Dear Parents,

Happy Valentine’s Day!!! Today we will have our Valentine’s Party. We are decorating cookies and playing fun games. Our class has filled their classroom marble jar. They earn these marbles working together as a class and following directions. Since they have completed this task I am treating them to a party on Friday. This will not require anyone to bring anything it is my treat. I am proud of our class and how well they work together. I will be providing pizza for lunch so please make sure that student does not bring a sack lunch. This week in Bible we are continuing our discussion of the Passover. In math we are continuing to work on math facts, money, and time. It is important that you are working with your students at home practicing math facts, time, and money. Please let me know if you need some creative ways to help your student with their math facts. In spelling this week we are focusing on review words. Please take time every night to practice spelling words and completing reading log. Have a fantastic week!!

Dear Parents,

What a busy week we have. This Thursday, December 9^th is our Christmas Program. First and Second grade will meet in our classroom at 6:30. The program begins at 7pm. Students need to wear jeans and a red shirt. I am sending home information about are class party next week. I will not be here on December 17^th and Mrs. Sipe will be subbing for our class. I have put on the door a sign-up sheet. Please stop by if you have any questions. We are still collecting canned foods and stockings for the Rescue Mission. Please bring items to our classroom. They are due by December 16^th. This week we are discussing Moses speaking to the Pharaoh. We are continuing to work on our money, time, and math facts. Please remember to study spelling words and complete reading logs every night. Our first Book Report is due tomorrow!!!! The Santa’s Secret Shop is continuing this week. Have a great week!!!

Dear Parents,

We have just a few weeks before Christmas vacation and lots to learn. We are getting back into our routine this week. This week in Bible we will be learning more about Moses. In math this week we will be focusing on place value, money, time, and math facts. Please remember to study spelling words and complete reading logs every night. Our first Book Report is due tomorrow!!!! As a reminder, we are having our canned food drive until December 17th. Please bring canned food to our classroom. The Santa’s Secret Shop begins this week. Information came home last Friday. Have a great week!!!

Dear Parents,

We have a full week ahead of us. We will not have homework this week. However, I am sending home a reading log which needs to be completed and returned on Friday. We are continuing our discussion about Moses’ and leading the Israelites to the Promised Land. On Tuesday we are having a webcast field trip to Plymouth with Scholastic. Wednesday we are going on our field trip to the Condor’s. Please make sure you have turned in your permission slip. Our classroom spelling bee is on Thursday. I will send home a letter to let you know who will be continuing on to the school spelling bee. Friday is our Thanksgiving Feast. Please sign up for something to bring. A sign-up sheet is on the classroom door. There is no school next week due to teacher in-service and Thanksgiving!! Have a great Thanksgiving Day!!!

Dear Parents,

We have a fun week planned. Our first field trip is Wednesday, October 20^th. We will leave immediately after attendance is taken. If you are a driver please be prepared to leave ASAP that morning. Our tour begins at 9:00am. Please have your students wear their uniforms, tennis shoes and bring a sweatshirt or sweater. It can get dirty out at the pumpkin patch. We will be back by lunch. Parent teacher conferences are next week. If you have not already done so please send back the blue paper with the time you would like to meet. I will send home a note to confirm our scheduled appointment. Please practice math facts at home with your students. If you need any ideas please let me know. We have some great ideas to add math facts to family time. Sight words are a part of our homework. Please practice these words with your student every day so that they can become more familiar with them during reading groups. Comfort packs were due October 1^st. If you have not already brought your Comfort Packs please send it ASAP!!!! A friendly reminder, the office needs to know if you will be attending the Condors Hockey Game field trip. If you plan to attend please let the office know so that they can get a head count for seating. Money for the Condors Hockey Field Trip is not due until October 22^nd. Have a great week!

Week of Sept 20th through 24th

We are having a fantastic time here at Olive Knolls. We are growing and learning so much. Your students are a great blessing to have in our classroom. I just want to mention a few reminders. Comfort Packs are due October 1st. Pictures begin next week. September 28th is our classroom pictures and students should wear a navy blue shirt and khaki bottoms. Our individual pictures will be on September 27th. Students may wear non-uniform clothing for their individual pictures. Have a great week!!

This week will a great week of learning knew and fun things. This week in Bible we are talking about Responsibility. Talk with your students about what kind of responsibilities they have at home. Keep your eyes open this week for special notes from school. We have Johnny Appleseed Day coming up and fliers have been going home about many different activities we are offering at the school.
